Cool pics up next doe…

Satchel makes a good point…

The title behind that one pretty much summed up the entire streetwear section of Magic. As far as conventions go, Magic is pretty much as nerdy as E3, minus the awesome video games.Regardless of how people try to flip and bounce it, at the end of the day it’s just brands trying to out hype each other to get in the doors of retailers.PCP and I rolled through with DBTHb vet Air Farce.

2 - “My line is streetwear inspired, but for the mass market.”Translation: I’m out here looking at what the popular streetwear lines are doing, then I am going back to my factories in Korea and create similar products to sell at price point retail. The irony is that my knock off will make 10x more then the original. So while we’re mixing Crown Royal and Coors Light to celebrate, you’ll be sitting on your LE skateboard trying to figure out how to pay your electricity bill.

That was probably the quote we heard the most. Everyone was trying to create the next super cool brand, but it really seemed like they were just knocking each other off. Go back a seasons and you’ll see that there’s way too much overlap. We’re still convinced that there were little elves in the back bootlegging gear as it was being shown.Original postQuestion submitted by: Paul

Bean Dip x Chilly-O

I met the Bean Dip Crew, actually Bill, at the MAGIC convention a couple years ago.  We met on the Las Vegas strip sharing cabs and getting kicked out of cabs, club-hopping at all the wonderful parties.  As time passed over the years, we finally came together to create a masterpiece, “Chilly-Dip!” Here goes a sneak preview in the lab of the first prototype…Photobucket Please visit Bean Dip at MAGIC, South Hall Photobucket

The Magical Decision

After constant debate over the question, “Should we f–k with the Magic Convention?” We finally came up with a decision. We will go, but we won’t invest in a booth. Done! These are the Pros and Cons that went into the verdict:

Pro’s

  • Think Positive, be present and reduce real estaste overhead.
  • Focus on the resources(i.e. sourcing, licensing), instead of the buying market.
  •  Show Face

Con’s

  • Slow buyers market and oversaturated market.
  • Help Magic invest in transitional costs moving from urban to street culture.
  • Travel Cost

If we are going to bounce this economy back we have to continue to partake in the market whether it would be from a minimal position or an aggressive standpoint. A minimal postion would be considered just showing up and saying, “Hey!”

The 1990’s

I ran with a crew called “Many Styles” which is a metamorphesis of our predecessor crew “Wacky Tribe” in the early 90’s.  If you look at the past blog entry “House Party” you will the see the founder Geranamo. He was the best dancer in the state of Connecticut. We used to battle at The Fever, Palladium, and Sound Factory.  What your are about to see is the origins of turfin, jukin, krumpin, and tickin.  If you couldn’t dance, back then, you were lame. Mostly of what you see in the clubs are thugs. Even thugs had fun back then…Here is an example of 1990’s lifestyle…

No Posers

Just to let you know we are serious about this lifestyle…BMX is only a portion of what we do…ThanksChilly-O at Louisiana Trails in Pittsburgh
